Recycling Center at Brightside St. Louis
Recycling Outreach and Education
We’re teaching St. Louis residents to join their neighbors in making rethinking, reducing, reusing and recycling part of their every day routine! Brightside’s Saint Louis City Recycles Team has created a strategic plan to help reach the City of St. Louis Sustainability Action agenda goal of increasing residential recycling participation. The team develops and implements tools and projects aimed at increasing participation in the City’s recycling program.
Blue Bin Recycling Basics
Saint Louis City Recycles is focused on teaching residents how easy it is to recycle! Here are the “Blue Bin Basics” of recycling.
- Always recycle common household items like paper, cardboard, and food or beverage bottles, cans and cartons in your Blue Bin.
- Never put plastic bags, Styrofoam, food waste or sharps in your Blue Bin.
- Keep recyclables loose, clean and dry.
- Always flatten cardboard.
Following these four steps can create tremendous benefits for the city and the entire region as recycling is proven to create and maintain jobs, protect the environment and provide health and social benefits. It is important that we Recycle Responsibly (learn more about this region-wide educational campaign here)! There are also more recycling options in St. Louis “Beyond the Blue Bin.
This handy Recycling 101 sheet will help you, your friends and family recycle right! We also have it available as a refrigerator magnet that you can pick up from the Brightside Office. And, if you’re looking for additional details on recycling and the city’s waste services, download the City’s Ultimate Waste Disposal Guide.
Recycling Center
The Operation Brightside Recycling Center, operated by Earth Circle Recycling at 1660 S. Kingshighway, is no longer in operation as of November 30th, 2022.
We thank Jerry of Earth Circle Recycling for his years of service to STL! With this cherished recycling center no longer in operation, City residents, please take your household recyclables to a City Recycling Dropoff Location. You’ll also find a Blue Bin dropoff location at the old Earth Circle site that is open M-F 8am-4pm!
