Junior Academy of Science – What Happens to the Trash?

If it isn’t recycled or composted, what happens to all that trash after it makes its way from the dumpster to the dump? Out of sight, out of mind? Not for the scientists and engineers responsible for figuring out how to manage all that trash once it makes its way to our nation’s landfills.

Meet with and hear the personal career path stories of some of these scientists and engineers in an eye-opening and hands-on Landfills 101 session, and then head on out for an investigative behind-the-scenes tour of a new multi-million dollar leachate pretreatment plant.

This exclusive behind-the-scenes talk and tour is open to Junior Academy members ONLY, their parents or guardians, and family members currently in Grade 6 or above.
