Ash Trees in Danger of Emerald Ash Borer Infestation
Ash Trees in Danger of Emerald Ash Borer Infestation
The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been discovered in St. Charles County and is the first known EAB infestation in the St. Louis region. Now that the insect is in our area, homeowners, businesses and entire communities will need to weigh the costs versus the benefits of protecting trees in the St. Louis area. To help St. Louisans learn more about EAB and what options are available for addressing an infestation, a representative from the Missouri Department of Conservation will lead an “Insects and Disease” workshop at the St. Louis Urban Gardening Symposium on Saturday, June 21. To attend this workshop, and other symposium workshops, register online at www.tinyurl.com/gardenurban.
EAB is a highly destructive invasive beetle that attacks ash trees and if left unchecked is fatal for native and ornamental ash trees. Since 2008, EAB has been found in 11 Missouri counties and is a significant threat to rural and urban trees with the potential to remove ash trees from North American forests and urban landscapes.

I have pictures of my moms young maple trees in her yard, and the trunks seem to be showing signs of some type of infection, fungus, pest, I don’t know what.
If i could attach a picture here I would so you can see. Her home is in Imperial Mo, off Seckman and Frisco Hill roads…If you’d let me know and email..I can submit a few pictures for identification. She has 4 trees and they all seem to have the same problem. They are leafing out, but I expect the problems will kill off the tree soon if not treated, and I’m not sure how to treat it.
There is certainly a lot to know about this issue. I love all
of the points you have made.
Wonderful blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you suggest starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so
many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any suggestions?
Appreciate it!
WordPress is easy to use and there are a lot of tutorials available. With a little trial and error, we’re sure you’ll be on your way! Good luck!
